Chief Hinojos is a proud native of the High Desert and graduated from Apple Valley Senior High School. He was appointed as the Chief of the Hesperia Unified School District Police Department in May of 2015, after serving over 27 years with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.  He’s worked numerous officer and supervisory assignments including custody, patrol, training, boat patrol, and special response units. As a Sheriff Sergeant, he’s held various positions throughout the SBSD divisions, and forged numerous business and community relationships.  As Chief of the HUSDPD, Chief Hinojos is responsible for the oversight of 8 sworn officers and 3 civilian support staff, to police over 73 sq. miles covering 26 district sites attended by over 23 thousand students and 16 thousand employees. Chief Hinojos holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He is a member of various professional school safety and police organizations.  Chief Hinojos and his team will provide our stakeholders with a police department that is both responsive to their needs and capable of adapting to unexpected challenges that may come our way. Through our good work, we will continue to build on our past successes, and become the premier example of school-based policing. We will accomplish this together, professionally, always understanding we must serve as role models to the students and be committed to excellence through service at all times.

Sergeant Troy Cook

Troy was hired with our Department in 2012.  He retired from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department in 2012.  Troy was fortunate enough to work numerous assignments while with the Sheriff’s Department and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.  Some of those assignments were with the High Tech. Crimes Unit, Corrections, Patrol, S.W.A.T, S.M.A.S.H. (Gangs) as well as other various specialized units.  Troy worked himself through the ranks and retired as a Sergeant while with the Sheriff’s Department.  With our district, Troy has worked at all of our school sites and has developed professional relationships with our school staff and students.  He’s currently sharing his law enforcement experiences with our younger officers and enjoys every minute of it.  Troy is our Department’s only Sergeant and overseas 5 Officers as well as a Corporal.

Anthony was hired with our Department in 2016 and is our current Corporal.  “Tony,” as he is likes to be called, brings an impressive and lengthy career to our agency.  He has 40 years of experience in law enforcement, predominately assigned as a general “Investigator.”  Tony has investigated 1,000’s of criminal cases.  He’s participated in Administrational, Personnel, and Industrial Accident Investigations.  In the late 1970s and early 1980’s, Tony was stationed in Spain and worked as a Criminal Investigator enforcing Military and International Laws.

In 1981, Tony was hired with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department where he spent the majority of his career as a Detective.  Tony has been appointed “acting” Sergeant for the Patrol Division as well as the Detective Bureau.  He has specialized training in Driving Awareness, Pursuit Driving, Search and Rescue, and also as an Instructor for Criminal Courses.  In 2012, he retired from the Sheriff’s Department and started working for Apple Valley School District as an Officer.  Tony remained there until he was hired with us in 2016.

Tony possesses an Advanced Post Certificate and was awarded “Officer of the Year ” on five separate occasions.  He has three “Commanders Awards” and one Sheriff’s “Distinguished Service” award.  It’s a pleasure to have Tony be a part of our team and to have the opportunity to learn from his experiences during his lengthy career in Law Enforcement.

 

 

 

Officer Gerry Longnecker

Gerry has been in law enforcement for twenty-nine years. He currently possesses an Advanced POST Certificate. Gerry has been with the Hesperia School Police Department for nine years and has been assigned to every High School and Jr. High School in the district.  He and Officer Gaskell are members of our Graffiti / Gang Task Force. Gerry brings the knowledge and experience of nineteen years with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.  While with the Sheriff’s Department, Gerry worked various assignments that included patrol, gang detail (SMASH), traffic (Motors), M.A.I.T (fatal traffic accident and reconstruction investigations), Swift Water / Dive Rescue Team, Aviation (Tactical Flight Officer / Medic), and Public Affairs. He was also an acting Detective responsible for completing various types of investigations. He’s attended multiple Advanced Officer Training classes over the years, including Detective School. For the past eight years, Gerry as also worked part-time for the Apple Valley Fire Protection District as an Arson / Fire Investigator in which he’s conducted complex arson / fire investigations.  It’s a pleasure having Gerry be a part of our team!

Steve was hired with our Department in January 2014.  He enjoys developing professional rapports with students and staff members and parents throughout the district.  Steve is a member of our Graffiti Task Force and he helped implement our graffiti database that we use daily.  Since Steve became involved in our graffiti program, we have noticed a substantial decrease in vandalism on and around our district sites.  Steve’s also a very effective public speaker.  Our Department utilizes Steve for our various public speaking events including Red Ribbon Week as well as Active Shooter presentations.  Our Department hosts several of these trainings each year and Steve is an active participant in these events.  Steve looks forward to several more years with our Department!

Officer Kevin Bacor

Kevin was hired with our Department in February 2014. He worked numerous assignments while with Riverside County Sheriff’s Department; Patrol, Custody, Court Services, as well as various Special Enforcement Teams.  Kevin handles our Department’s Social Media accounts and attempts to stay current with the latest Social Media trends.  Kevin has attended Advanced Officer Trainings in Leadership, Investigations, and School Threat Assessments, which he applies daily.  Kevin also helped update and implement our Emergency Response Protocols for all of our school sites.  Kevin’s spouse is an Educator with Fontana School District and they have 2 young daughters together. Kevin possesses an Advanced Post Certificate and Bachelor’s Degree. Kevin is excited to continue to help foster positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.

Officer Keith Fry

Keith was hired with our agency in February 2014.  He’s been in Law Enforcement since 2004 and has worked both Patrol and Custody assignments.  Keith has prior experience working for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as well as the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.  One of Keith’s assignments with our Department is our firearms expert and armorer.  He services our hand guns, shotguns and rifles annually and is certified through Glock, Ruger and Remington.  He’s also one of our T.L.O. (Terrorist Liaison Officer). He routinely attends county and state meetings with surrounding agencies to discuss that latest terrorist movements and trends.  Keith is S.M.A.S.H (Gangs) certified through San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. and enjoys working with kids.  Keith looks forward to coming to work and having a positive impact with both student and staff members.

Caleb was hired with our Department in September 2016.  Caleb previously worked for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff and worked both Custody and Patrol assignments.  Caleb possess a Basic POST Certificate.  Caleb grew up locally in the high desert and was a graduate of Sultana High School.  Caleb is married and his wife is an Educator within our district.  Caleb strives to be a positive roll model for our students here in the Hesperia Unified School District.

Louis Clouston

Louis was hired with our Department in October 2014.  He has 10 years prior Law Enforcement experience as a Level 1 Reserve Officer and has attended the Basic Peace Officers’ Academy in Los Angeles County.  Louis brings experience from working at various college campuses and positive interactions with students of all ages.  He works closely with the district office and helps provide support for our S.A.R.B program.  Louis assists with report writing, traffic complaints, and any other traffic related issues district wide.  Louis helps supervise our “after hours” Security Company contracted by Hesperia School District.  Louis enjoys the outdoors and has two young adult children.

Adenia has been employed with Hesperia Unified School District since 2007.  She’s worked hard at every position she’s been given and currently holds the position of Confidential Secretary to the Chief.  Adenia grew up in Hesperia and ultimately graduated from Sultana High School.  Adenia serves a key role in the day to day operation of our Department.  She also serves as a liaison between our Department, our 22 school sites, and the general public.  Adenia has enjoyed every position she has held within our district, but refers to her current position as her “favorite.”  She looks forward to many more years with the District.

Miriam Gastelum

Miriam was originally hired with Hesperia Unified School District in 2006 as a Receptionist at Hesperia Junior High School.  She worked there for a short period of time and accepted a position with the California Highway Patrol where she stayed for the next 9 years.  Miriam decided to come back to our district and was hired as a Police Support Specialist.  She’s bilingual and extremely important in our day to day operations.  She’s in direct contact with our Juvenile Probation Department and our local Courthouses to keep our operation running smoothly.  Miriam is married with 2 children and wants to continue to “help make the world a better place.”
